Christmas Tree Cutting

Don't worry, we didn't pass by Thanksgiving without pictures or a blog post, this year we cut our Christmas tree the week before Thanksgiving and honestly, this is a tradition that might be here to stay.  While some believe it's rushing Christmas and forgetting about Thanksgiving, I've come to feel that it's really more about giving each holiday and tradition it's own space - allowing us to enjoy each thing a little bit more!

We went back to Williams Tree Farm again this year and I think we've officially decided that next year we need to try out a new location.  We like EVERYTHING about Williams, from the atmosphere to the wreathes to the food trucks (the donuts are the most amazing add to tree-cutting!) we love Williams, but the trees just haven't been our favorite lately.  They aren't quite big enough, or wide enough for our liking so we're going to try someplace new next year!

That being said, we cut a total of 3 trees while we were there and purchased a total of 6 wreaths across the 4 families.  Somehow we didn't manage to get a picture with Mom and Dad on this trip - silly me!  But they joined us for the adventure, a first time for them!  They didn't cut a tree, still preferring the artificial trees like I grew up with....but it was sure fun to have them along for the day.

The weather was beautiful and rather warm.  Since we went the weekend before Thanksgiving the lines were short and there were plenty of opportunities for us to do all the Christmas traditions that start getting us in the mood for the season - including, of course, visiting Santa and Mrs. Claus.  Abby asked Santa for a jumping remote control car and Hazel asked for a claw machine.  Santa seemed like those things me be reasonable but I suppose we'll have to wait til Christmas day to see what actually happens.  Ryan keeps threatening that Santa has a coal truck delivery planned for our driveway on Christmas morning, but I have faith that Abby and Hazel can continue to be good through the holiday season!

I bought things for a whole new mantle last year after Christmas so it was fun to unpack all the things I'd forgotten we purchased and to see them all set up.  I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!  And, of course, don't forget to check out that awesome chalkboard sign Erin made for us.  I love this time of the year so so much!
