4th of July

Can you think of anything more appropriate than an Independence Day outdoor movie night on July 3rd?  We had fireworks in the background (sometimes drowning out the movie noise)....a beautiful sunset and a classic.  It was great - until the sound stopped working and then the DVD gave us trouble.  But, we all picked up the movie at our homes on the 4th, right where we left out.  It was so fun and we'll definitely be doing outdoor movie night again.

No lake weekend is complete without Mable rides!  All was fine with the Mable until they slowed down to get through a narrow part of the lake and the tube took on water in the front and dumped the kids in the water.  It upset Hazel enough that she refused to ride after that.  But, thankfully Ro got her to try it one last time on Monday before we headed home.  Leaving on a positive note just makes it easier for next time.

The weekend was a typical lake weekend.  We ate too much food, we sat around and had a lots of chats and laughs.  The kids stayed up too late, watched fireworks, swam in the lake for hours on end and just soaked up summer!  The only thing was the our group was really pretty small.  It was us McGraths + the Jan/Jerry family (minus the Eg's)...and Gina/Henry, Anthony/Brittany.  We had a lot of last minute cancels which were a bummer!  These weekends are so fun when there are tons of cousins around.  But, it's also way more low key when we have fewer people.

These summer weeks are so packed full of fun that they fly past.  I can't believe it's already mid July! Much like I want the kids to slow down and stop growing, I want these summer days to slow down.
