Friday Night at the Race Track

Guys!  Who knew we'd be a race family!?  Earlier this summer Jamie created a summer bucket list for her family to work through over the summer.  While that's something that is typically right up my alley I just didn't have it in me this year to plan and organize.  So...I promised we'd tag along on her list to whatever we could make.  Ryan suggested to add the Sycamore race track to the list and I'm so glad he did!

We truly had no idea if the kids would love or hate this but it was close to home, pretty inexpensive and really, just something new to try.  The real races didn't start until 7:30 and the qualifying didn't start until like 6:45 so we started with dinner at Jamie and Zach's and then rolled into the race track around 6:30 so we could grab seats (not necessary to arrive early), grab snacks (next time we'll sneak some in) and generally get the lay of the land.

We stayed until the demolition derby was over - there were only a few races that followed. The kids did great - they were interested and engaged and even had fun betting on the cars for each race.  Next time we'll give everyone a handful of quarters for betting which I think will keep them even more excited to watch and cheer.

These sweet girls - I hope this girl gang lasts forever.

Long story short - we're going to try and schedule another trip to the races this summer.  It was far too fun and a great way to spend a Friday night with friends.
