Hazel's Mural

(Oct 11)

The project of 2025 was redoing Hazel's room/the loft to make it a more useable space for her and for the rest of the family.  I already shared an update on the new hang out room we created in the loft space, but what I haven't yet posted about is the cool mural Hazel asked to do in her room.  She had a vision, Ryan said we'd make it work...and here we are 6 months later and we're finally landing the plane on this project!

Let me tell you, this project turned out way better than I could have imagined.  We had lots of pivots over time.  Originally this was supposed to be a wolf with angel wings and a bunny on it's head.  You can see a partial progress picture above that didn't make the cut.  But, once she was committed it came together pretty quickly, and I honestly didn't imagine it would come out this good.

Hazel did a lot of work on her own and then I prepped all the paint and over the course of a few weekends we doubled down and finally finished this project.  I'm so proud of her.  I helped with cutting in the edges and with the sunrise and other than that, this was fully Hazel.  She sketched it all giving us the outline of what she wanted to do.  The most impressive side is the right side that she did fully freehand with only a photo on her phone to copy. She scaled it and hand drew the entire thing!  The right side we did with a projector to help, but I wish she'd have done the entire thing freehand.  I'm very impressed by her and I can't wait to see what she comes up with next.

Put a fork in it and call it done!  It's been a year long project to get to this point but I think Hazel is in love with her new room.
