Mother's Day Camping
Man do I love this kid!!
Ryan and I have already been tossing around the idea of upgrading ours for something new this year, and there's nothing like seeing someone else getting a new camper to make you want one too!! We've had our eye on the used market since last fall and the right thing hasn't come up yet, but I expect this will be our last summer with our current camper as well.
Back to camping though - all in all, we will figure out a way to get back to this campground again soon. It was beautiful and we left a lot to explore on future trips. It's a beautiful part of the world with a lot of interesting Native American history and typography. We know we need to book 11 months out now so it's just a matter of planning early! Maybe we'll book it in the next month or so for NEXT Mother's Day weekend and get everyone one board for the weekend.

Easter 2026
We hosted Easter at our house this year with a small crowd. Mom and Dad were in the Keys on vacation so we'll see them next weekend. Erin, Nate and Dan all came out and we made our standard Easter meal - a smoked ham with boxed Au Grain potatoes (next year we'll make 3 boxes...and yes, it seems extreme, and yes, everyone asks for the boxed version...we've all decided they really are the best).
And, of course the Easter Bunny came on Sunday morning. Stupid Penny found the family basket before we could get to her and she took a big chomp out of the ONE candy the Easter Bunny brought for me (eye roll). We're only missing 3 eggs somewhere in the house (we think). I'm sure we'll find them before next Easter.

Winter Crafts (Part 2)
- I'm picky about the projects I want to work on. When I see something I like, I know...and it might take a long time for me to feel that inspiration.
- I'll get to my crafts eventually - I won't overbuy and never finish them.
- I quilt more in the winter/spring when it's cold and dark and we're home on the weekends more.
- I knit all year long and I knit almost every single day, even when I travel.

Penny! I don't know if it's true, but I hope that her life flashed before her eyes on this day. I was not pleased when Hazel came downstairs during a work meeting to tell me "Penny got into your yarn and it's a big mess". She's lucky that I was able to recover it after an hour or so of extreme patience and determination to fix the mess!

Winter Crafts (Part 1 - Dec and Jan)
(11/26/25)
I knit this one in size "large" figuring it needed to be sized to fit either a man or woman and Ryan thought it was a little too big so when I started the inverse color version of this hat, I made it one size down to see if we liked that better. I'm trying to capture the details here because this may become a standard knit hat pattern I reuse for other projects.

Next up - my winter quilts. I had fabric to make 3 more quilts all lined up and ready to start whipping them out as soon as the Christmas decorations came down and I reclaimed my quilting table from the Christmas train. The pattern for this quilt is made with fat quarters but I couldn't order the fabric I wanted in fat quarters so I picked up half yards and had enough to make two of these at the same time. Batch quilting takes marginally longer than a single quilt because you're already in the groove of whatever step you are on.

I went back in the blog to find when I started this purple sampler blanket and it was June 14th meaning it took me about 6 months to get this one done. I'm really happy with how it turned out and the yarn for this one came on a giant cone so there were only two ends to tie in along the way. A sampler is fun too because you get to switch up the pattern every few inches so it keeps it interesting. I finished and blocked this one in early January.
