Project Linus

I've blogged about these blankets as I was knitting them, but I wanted to make sure these made it into the hands of Project Linus before the holidays so rounded them all up and decided to capture them all in one spot before sending them out the door to some kiddos needing some comfort and warmth.

I've been knitting for a long time - roughly 15 years.  And after all that time, I've gotten to the place where I don't really need anything else myself and I've already gifted a LOT of things to the people I love.  While participating in LGMC two years ago I learned about Project Linus, a non-profit that accepts donations of hand knit and hand quilted blankets.  The blanket are donated to hospitals and shelters in the community and they are given to children who may need some extra warmth and love.

I randomly decided to reach out to Purl Soho, one of my favorite yarn stores to see if they offered discounts for makers who are making on behalf of charities and they sent me an entire box of yarn for FREE!   I made all three of these blankets out of the yarn they sent me and I probably have enough to make another 1-2 blankets out of that yarn.  It's taken me some time, about two years to get these three made (in between the other quilting and knitting projects I've had) and it was finally time to send them out the door to be gifted to people in our community.

They aren't perfect, but I do hope they'll find their way to someone who needs and loves them!  I finished them off with the "Made with love by Sadie" tags I had made awhile back and Ryan dropped them off at the local Project Linus drop off just a few days ago.
